The modern sounding title does befit the music - it is considerably more atonal than some Krenek music we highlighted in previous posts
on him. Could not find out much about this piece - did see it mentioned along with others in a short tract on 12-tone technique. The work dates from 1954 and is Op. 142 - so fits with his style becoming more atonal in later years. It is 11 subtitled short pieces for orchestra, played in one continuous movement. (It was not listed in works for orchestra, in one source). It was enjoyable - and if you are a Krenek fan, I'd recommend it. (17 min. duration) |

I looked this up.
I missed the digital download option. (Or ignored it.) But I want this, so I'm going to take Martin's route. And thanks, Mambo, belatedly, for mentioning this. I like Krenek, the later the better. (His Horizont umkreist is a favorite of mine. It's the piece of his I play most often.) |

Will check on Martin's method too -my 11 T's are on LP.
Have not heard Horizont umkreist, SG, but since it is Krenek, I'm sure it is good to get, and look into it. Recently I got little more (later) Krenek, titled "Static and Ecstatic", but not played it yet - will comment later. |
