Default Opera being composed on Twitter

The Royal Opera House is to stage an opera created through social networking site Twitter.

Members of the public have been invited to submit their "tweets" online - messages of up to 140 characters - which will form the new libretto.

The first scene of the as-yet-untitled work has already been completed and features a man who has been kidnapped by a group of birds.

I read about this in one of the London freesheets. The samples they printed were embarrassingly bad, though.

Do you think we should write a Brightcecilia opera?

THe synopsis wasn't that bad, but yes the libretto was a little rough.

I think a BC opera could be cool.... Write a one-act libretto, and have all us composers take a crack at it?
