I find it egregious that no compilation album features these passages
I. Transformation Music Act I - Parsifal II. Transformation Music Act III - Parisfal III. Prelude to Act II - Die Walkure IV. Prelude to Act III - Tristan und Isolde These are some of the greatest passages in all of Wagner! I shudder when I think how many potential Wagnerites turned again because they found the existing orchestral compilations discs unsatisfactory or not impressive enough. The Prelude to Act III is, IMHO, much more "meaty" than the Prelude to Act I in terms of immediate effect - the Prelude to Act I gets off on a slow start. As for Parsifal, for me the Transformation music and the corresponding choruses that follows blows the Good Friday Magic out of the waters! They're probably my favorite passages in all of Wagner. |
